
Jim Thompson of Butte, Montana WINS 2011 CABO 500!
On April 29, on the shores of this resort town, Jim Thompson won the Jason Baldwin CABO 500 Trophy after a 'land-rush start', began with the drop of a 'red-shop rag'.
The finish line, on the golden sands framed by the azure seas at lands end of the Baja peninsula, welcomed all the competitors as each team arrived following the dramatic desert off-road event from La Paz and the wilds of the Cape of St. Lucas at the extreme southern point of Baja Mexico. Jim is only the third American racer to win the CABO 500.
CABO 500 The Red Race Announced
The CABO 500 Announced Saturday, in Cabo San Lucas, Baja Sur, Mexico, that this years race is a "Red Race".
What's a Red Race? It's an unauthorized desert off-road event that begins with the drop of a "red shop rag", on a 'land rush start'. The finish line is the beach in Cabo, right on the sand, at the CABO CLUB in San Lucas, often known as 'Lands End'.
