The CABO 500 was carried out in a great atmosphere and the sense of
expectancy that always causes this competition that has devotees for
years, the favorite race of Mexican Championship pilots.
This year, the finish line was in Cabo San Lucas. arranged by the Baja
Safari Mexico Club and the Association of Offroad Racing of Southern
Baja California and the City of Cabo San Lucas, which promoted the race
considerably and supported plans for 2007-2011.
The CABO 500 Race Week began Friday 28 of April on the Grand Malecon of
La Paz, with a 30,000 strong group of race fans at contingency who saw
vehicles march past the Sea Of Cortez, that would be participating in
the race, some of the racers which they called the attention of the fans
of off road were class 1 of James Mihal, Danny Anderson and Luis
Ramirez, which by the way would be protagonists in the long Southern
Baja Mexico race.
The actions continued until the average night when the bullicio and the
noises of the motors stopped. To 8:30 in the morning off was let feel
the atmosphere road in the Levee of La Paz, where the motorcyclists were
outlined to start and to bequeath until "the Saladito" where she would
give to beginning the race officially. The vehicles did the own thing
around the 11 in the morning. The saladito let see a pretty day and the
pilots were outlined, unfortunately several of the racers who were
enrolled did not see participation in the race for reasons that are not
known, nevertheless, who attended the green flag felt the adrenalin and
they infected it around the route.
The Protruck of Mango Racing incorporated to Trophy Truck was first in
starting, followed of him would conduct battle the class 1 of Luis
Ramirez, Danny Anderson and James Mihal, that emphasized in the event.
The list of participants continued marching past, at single 6 kilometers
of "the Saladito" some of the runners no longer could arrive, the
plaintiff route was hardly beginning and already she received some of
his victims... Gabriel Garci'a was the last vehicle who we saw happen
directing itself to the section that runs by day.
In the class 22 Alex Vizcaíno and Alberto Ross they managed to arrive
first a the goal in one long race which they divided in two parts, very
stuck them, fighting and helping to companions long it of the route,
Sunny Irvine ran single giving a very good fight that could well have
been the victory. The Guluarte brothers returned to participate together
in a race obtaining the first place in the quadricycle ones. Samuel
Andrade and his equipment arrived long before at the goal that closest
rival his in a good race in class 21. He is possible to emphasize the
effort made by Navarrese Raymundo, that when having problems with his
motorcycle to 2 kilometers of the goal, he had to push moto by the sandy
ways of the stream to arrive at the goal and to obtain the second place
of class 21, in a touching moment of goal since aside the way came
single with a hand center illuminating itself.
Officially starting mid afternoon, with goal in the city of Cabo San
Lucas, the winners would have a route of at least 7 hours and average
speaking of an excellent time, but Danny Anderson exceeded and surpassed
the expectations of the majority, when finishing the race in 6 hours
and 37 minutes, running all the race with light by day and enjoying the
finish line located in front of the Arch of Cabo San Lucas with the rays
of the Sun!
Impressive the way in which the American runner prevailed in his
single-seater handling single the race from La Paz to Cabo. It spent a
considerable time, more than one hour to see arrive the following car,
and this it was Navarrese Flavio, that returned to have an excellent
participation in the CABO 500, obtaining the position of honor in the
12; followed of him Salazar arrived at the finish line, the equipment of
"Tito" who had an excellent competition taking the third place overall
of the race and second of class 12. The racers began to arrive drops
against the account but the winners began to clear, Loretano 100% Arturo
Susarrey obtained the first position in class 8, prevailing before
rivals of hierarchy like Tom Bradley; Oscar Salazar and Martín Garci'a
took class 7; Víctor Barreda and Steve Barry did a super time winning of
full way class 9; Hugo Cervón and Gustavo Nava did the own thing in the
5-1600 where also they obtained recognized a first place, in a
concerted effort to arrive at the goal Jorge Mendoza class 5 took frees,
one of the best times of the race was without a doubt the one of Give
Bradley, (brother of the well-known Tom Bradley), that with an
impressive race took the class 1600 that by the way was the most
concurred of the event. Samir Creek that has had an excellent beginning
of year took to the class 8-S. To 4 in the morning it almost appeared in
I embroider of San Lucas # 1113 of Brown Fernando who with a remarkable
race took competed class 11.
Accidents and bad moments Lamentably like in all the events off road,
were many mishaps luckyly without consequences, among them emphasize the
accident of the 5 frees in which Irvine Zazueta left injured (nothing
burdens), the volcadura of Osorio that released the class 9 ex- Steve
Barry, 1217 of Jaime Moncayo that was burned, the exit of route of
Adrián Diaz in class 9 of Rolando Holmos, the volcadura of Franc Rocks,
the 6 returns of the Kikis Burguer (the same one says that its car
simply no longer serves) among other incidents which they left it go to
some competitors.
The North American pilots with whom we could platicar in the goal of the
race showed very moved by the event and the treatment that gave all the
liking them throughout the route, promising most of them, to return to
in next years CABO 500, in April 2007, La Paz to Cabo, Southern Baja
